Chess Foundation offers chess instruction during in
school and after school hours. Working closely with
each school, Icon Chess Foundation provides chess instruction
that helps students improve academic performance, self-esteem,
and a sound work ethic. Courses are two hours in length
and can accommodate 25 students. The first hour focuses
on chess instruction while the second hour relates chess
concepts to academic subjects such as reading and math.
Students have the opportunity to participate in field
trips to educational and cultural institutions and play
in chess tournaments, as well as hear motivational speakers
and mentor younger students in the mastery of chess.
